We create new value for people and society as a whole,” the Ai Holdings Group believes it is important to raise health awareness and maintain a workplace in which every employee is in good health, both physically and mentally, and can work with vigor and exert their full potential. We have therefore positioned the mental and physical health of our employees as a top management priority. Accordingly, our directors and employees will work together to create a healthy workplace and promote health, and thereby support further advancement of the Group.

Concrete initiatives undertaken by Ai Holdings and Dodwell B.M.S Ltd. are as follows.

◆Health Promotion Initiatives (Initiatives by Operating Subsidiaries)

  1. Implement health checkups including additional non-statutory checks targeting lifestyle diseases, health guidance based on checkup results, and health management of employees through close collaboration with occupational physicians.
  2. Based on the checkup results, encourage employees flagged for a thorough examination to undergo such an examination, and bear related expenses.
  3. Implement a stress evaluation to promote an understanding of employees’ mental health.
  4. Establish a reinstatement program for employees on leave, exercise consideration with regard to work arrangements, and provide necessary support.
  5. Raise awareness of health promotion among employees with a focus on activities led by the Health and Safety Committee.
  6. Provide support for internal sports club activities.

Initiatives to ensure healthy workplace

The Ai Holdings Group strives to create a safe and comfortable workplace environment free of discrimination and harassment.
Below, we present some related initiatives undertaken by our core group company Dodwell B.M.S Ltd. 

◆Efforts to Promote a Healthy Working Environment (Initiatives by Operating Subsidiaries)

1.Promote adequate management of working hours.

 (2)Promote initiatives to prevent overwork based on work data.

2.Promote maintenance of safe and healthy work environment.
 (1)Periodically implement 4S campaigns (sort, set, shine, standardize), and promote improvement in the work environment.
 (2)Periodically implement campaigns to prevent labor accidents and accidents involving commercial vehicles, and ensure safety and health.

3.Implement compliance training
 (1)Implement training to raise awareness about harassment and LGBT issues, and to prevent accounting fraud.
 (2)Implement information security training.

Support employees in balancing work with childcare and nursing care

The Ai Holdings Group strives to create an environment in which employees do not have to abandon their jobs to provide childcare and nursing care. It encourages employees to balance work with childcare and nursing care, and continue to work at the Group over the long term.
Below, we present some related initiatives undertaken by our core group company Dodwell B.M.S Ltd.

Childcare support initiatives

Dodwell B.M.S has established a system that allows employees (regardless of gender) who need to balance work with childcare to select from a broad range of work styles.

  • Childcare leave
  • Special childcare leave (up to five days until the child turns one year old)
  • Shorter working hours to provide childcare (allows employees to shorten their working hours until their children complete third grade at elementary school)
  • Time off for sick/injured childcare (up to five days per child under elementary school age, up to 10 days per two or more children under elementary school age)

Nursing care support initiatives

Dodwell B.M.S has established a system that allows employees to balance their work with nursing care, and continue to work over the long term.

  • Caregiver leave (up to 93 days per person requiring long-term care)
  • Time off for caregivers (up to five days per year per person requiring long-term care, and up to 10 days per two people requiring long-term care)
  • Shorter working hours to provide nursing care (reduction of up to two hours from prescribed daily working hours for up to three years)

Promotion of women’s participation and advancement in the workplace

Ai Holdings Group employs a large number of women, who play an active role in its operations. The Group provides an environment in which female employees are encouraged to continue working and fully express their capabilities while balancing work with childbirth and childcare.

Promotion of women’s health checkups

At the annual medical checkups, the Group provides women’s health checkup subsidies to female employees who undergo cervical or breast cancer screenings.

Promotion of appointment of female engineers to managerial positions

[AI SEKKEI Corp.]

As part of its efforts to promote female engineers to managerial positions, the Group occasionally holds career advancement round-table meetings geared toward female engineers. These meetings are led by engineers in managerial positions who balance their work with childcare and family life.

Implementation of career design training by female managers

[AI SEKKEI Corp.]

Ai Sekkei initiated career design training for new female employees from April 2021. The objective is to expose new female employees to the workstyle of female engineers in managerial positions who are pursuing a career while raising children and attending to family life, and thus provide an opportunity for such employees to reflect independently on their career and work-life balance.

Minimum of 124 non-working days per year

To ensure their employees can lead a prosperous and fulfilling life, Dodwell B.M.S and Graphtec have set the number of non-working days per year to a minimum of 124.x.

Young Employee Study Leave Program

To ensure its young employees can dedicate time to personal development, Dodwell B.M.S has launched the Young Employee Study Leave Program (nine consecutive days off available to young employees once per year). The objective is to help young employees grow into key human resources for the company.

[Social contribution initiatives]

Donations to monastery-operated orphanage in Myanmar

The SF (Steel Fabrication) division of Dodwell B.M.S provides support to invite overseas engineers to Japan, and donates funds to a monastery-operated orphanage in Myanmar to help orphans become engineers in the future. The orphanage provides a home to children who cannot live with their parents for various reasons. Dodwell B.M.S and Datalogic K.K. started jointly donating funds to the orphanage from January 2020.

[Initiatives to provide stable and safe products]

Initiatives in the Security Equipment business

The products sold by the core Security Equipment business undergo quality control based on a Quality Manual formulated by group company Ai Engineering Corporation. To ensure the products sold by the Group adhere to the Quality Manual and accordingly continue to meet the product quality demanded by its customers, Ai Engineering works together with sales company Dodwell B.M.S to clarify quality systems that cover all stages from product planning to shipments and corrective action, maintain product quality, and aim to enhance and strengthen quality assurance activities.

Initiatives at Graphtec Corporation

Manufacturing company Graphtec has formulated a Quality Policy that states: “We aim to provide products and services that are recognized by the world and contribute to customer satisfaction, and aspire to be a trusted company that pursues its dreams.” Graphtec continually improves its quality management systems, while working to enhance the quality of its products and services.
In addition, it acquired the ISO9001 certification in February 1997, and has since maintained and periodically renewed the certification.
